Waiting on Wednesday (8-27-14)

I am excited for sequel releases in September, as well as author signings in my area.

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Lost and broken, Celaena Sardothien’s only thought is to avenge the savage death of her dearest friend: as the King of Adarlan’s Assassin, she is bound to serve this tyrant, but he will pay for what he did. Any hope Celaena has of destroying the king lies in answers to be found in Wendlyn. Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King’s Guard, has sent Celaena there to protect her, but her darkest demons lay in that same place. If she can overcome them, she will be Adarlan’s biggest threat – and his own toughest enemy.

While Celaena learns of her true destiny, and the eyes of Erilea are on Wendlyn, a brutal and beastly force is preparing to take to the skies. Will Celaena find the strength not only to win her own battles, but to fight a war that could pit her loyalties to her own people against those she has grown to love? I first heard of Throne of Glass at the YA Giveback Tour, and was intrigued by the concept. Sarah first thought of the idea when she was listening to the score of the Cinderella movie, and thought ‘what would have happened if Cinderella was an assassin?’ That right there says enough about how amazing this books is.

Comes Out: Sept. 2

Echoes of Us by Kat Zhang

All Eva ever wanted was the chance to be herself. But in the Americas, to be hybrid—to share your body with a second soul—is not tolerated past childhood. Now Eva and Addie, her sister soul, are constantly on the move, hiding from the officials who seek to capture them. But the tide is changing. A revolution is brewing, and people are starting to question the hybrids’ mistreatment.

Then Marion, an ambitious reporter, offers Eva and Addie a daring proposal: If they go undercover and film the wretched conditions of a hybrid institution, she will not only rescue them, she’ll find a way to free Jackson, the boy Addie loves. It’s risky, and Eva will have to leave Ryan and her friends behind, but if she succeeds, it could also tip the scales forever and lead to hybrid freedom.

As Eva and Addie walk into danger, they cling to each other and the hope of a better future. But the price they might pay is higher than they ever could have imagined. (Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17352960-echoes-of-us)

I read this book when it first came out and I saw it at Barnes and Noble. The cover instantly drew me in because it is an amazingly beautiful cover, but then when I read the synopsis, I was sold. I went to get my first book signed at the Young Authors Giveback Tour, and then called and got a signed early copy Once We Were. I am hooked into this series and I can’t believe this is the last book, I am sincerly going to miss every single one of those charasters, and I am honestly scared based on quotes that Kat has put out on her Tumblr.

Super excited for all of these upcoming September happenings. Really bummed to be missing out on the Keep Calm and Read On for Book Lovers Event, with a representative from Random House publishings. I was really looking forward to it but when I went to register the event was full. Congrats to anyone who actually got in, it should be a really exciting and fun event!
